How A Jail Bird Sang

Pepo the parrot has spent four days being ‘questioned’ by police in Argentina. A judge ordered the tropical bird to be held in custody until he told officers who was his owner. Two neighbours, Jorge Machado and Rio Vega, were disputing to whom Pepo belonged.

Judge Oswaldi Carlos decided the parrot should be sent to the police cells until he revealed ‘under interrogation’ the name of his owner. After five days Pepo cracked and mentioned Jorge.

He also sang the anthem of his fateful friend’s favourite football team, San Lorenzo. Macchado said: ‘I knew he wasn’t going to let me down. He is a real pal and we support the same football team.’
