'Welcome to Cheapco' - A War on Want fight against supermarket power

Human rights organisation War on Want have engaged in a determined campaign to expose and help eradicate the abuse of overseas workers by powerful corporations like supermarkets and inept government policy.

War on Want say "supermarkets have used their buying power to squeeze suppliers and drive down pay and working conditions". They add: "This means that the people who make the clothes and grow the food sold in UK supermarkets are often poorly paid, overworked, endure unsafe conditions and are discouraged from joining a trade union. Supermarkets claim they care about workers in their overseas supply chains but are doing nothing to change this situation."

"We wouldn’t accept this situation in the UK, so why should they?"
