Who do you write like: Stephen King, or Edgar Allan Poe?

IF you've ever wondered whom your writing resembles, then you are about to find out.

A site created by a 27-year-old Russian blogger and software developer Dmitry Chestnykh, operates with an algorithm similar to a spam detector. The current version is based on the English texts of 50 authors including Agatha Christie, Dan Brown, and H.P. Lovecraft, and Stephen King.

All you do is paste an extract from your blog or current fiction project into a text box and hit the Submit button. An instant response gives you the name of an author whose style your submission resembles.

I just tried it out and got the surprising response that my writing is like the author's Dan Brown. Quite how, since I pasted in a sample of an old news story I did from ages ago.

Whether it's an accurate indication or just something Dmitry dreamt up to pass a few mins of boredom, we will never know.
